A friend of mine, who now is working temp at The Bank That Shall Not Be Named, told me about their policy of rewarding people for coming to work sick. Basically, if you use no sick days you get a BONUS - $50 PER QUARTER!
I'll pause while you catch your breath at their astounding generosity.
So, of course, people come to work sniffling, hacking, wheezing, and bugs spread rather quickly.
I thought of that when I saw this story on Slashdot -

Plague Rats
I don't suppose yelling "Avast, you scurvy plague rats!" would clue anybody in. Just watch 2 mins of 'Fear Factor' and you will know how low the human condition can sink for $50 ... or a trip to Jamaica ... or free hot dogs at the convenience store.Is it evil for a company to realize that some humans will trade or sell their health, happiness and spiritual integrity for peanuts and cash in on that - or is it genius?
I think the lab rats have been found ... and they is us.
